Hello..

First of all, sorry for my bad English i live in Netherlands.

Im new on the forum, and im looking for an opinion and help from the most experient fish keepers.

The first advice i got to start the hobbies was: Get the bigger tank you can afford...

Now im the owner of a used Juwel vision 450, thats about +-110gal... And a JBL cristalProfi e1501 filter... I understand i need to increase the filtration to achieve my goal...

The help im looking here on the fórum is.. I want to stock the aquarium with just 1 fish and the biggest possible to fit nicely on my aquarium size without any upgrades... I m looking for an easy and beautifull, colourfull fish, he will be the pet and the centerpiece of my living room..

Thanks in advance.

ha ik ben ook nl. dus ik doe het gewoon ff in het nl.

ik neem aan dat je een roofvis wilt?
Je zou kunnen gaan voor :
een koppel channa bleheri
channa gauche
channa andrao
of
red wolffish
of
exodons (soort pirhania's alleen dan agressiever)
of
crenicichla regain;s (maar die zijn lastig te houden)

Welcome!

Looked up your tank. Looks to be a 60"x16-24" footprint bowfront. I think thats a great footprint for a medium-larger single specimen and would be confident with a single amphilophus type cichlid or flowerhorn. Festae and vieja are very popular fish right now as well. A gold wolf fish could also work and would be a little more exclusive. Paratilapia polleni are also an option if you would prefer an african species.

If you wanted to eventually try a breeding pair or group, green terror or cuban cichlids would be a good fit.

That filter you have would probably be sufficient for a single specimen tank, but if you wanted more flow in your tank you could upgrade.

The obvious answer is a quality oscar.
Definitely needs to be a male cichlid imo.

If you can't get a nice wild Oscar other options are:
Vieja synspilium
Black belt
True Midas
True red devil
Argentea
Geophagus brasiliensis
True trimac
True parrot cichlid
Female festae (get the red colour and stay smaller)
greenterror rarer white saum or Stahl's
Uaru fendepezi
Other amphilophus like hogaboomorum or saggitae are worth a look too.

Try to find a quality fish, avoid regular store bought in bred fish if possible and get a fish from a specialist. Maybe even buy 6 then pick your favourite if online is the only option.

A male parachromis loisellei or friedrichsthalii would be a colorful solo fish that should do well in that tank.

Thank you all for time spended....

Now its time to grab all the info and do some research..
I didn't think to mention these earlier, but you may want to add amphilophus lyonsi to your research list. I am not sure about the availability in the Netherlands, but they are thought to be extinct in their native range. It's a beautiful fish, a little smaller than some other amphs, and kind of cool to own from a conservation standpoint.

It would help if we knew your water basics, like is it high PH hard water, or lower PH soft water. Centrals like the higher PH hard water. Where is the South Americans like softer lower PH.
Fish can adjust some but won't live as long in the long run.
