Long time reader, first time poster

I'll be purchasing a 6 foot by 18 inch tank at some point in the near future. And I'd like some ideas on how to stock it.

I have two juvy gold sevs in a 75 right now that will likely go into it along with a few diamond tetras and some hoplo cats (marbled not brown). Not sure on the sex of the severums but I have no interest in breeding in this tank. Just want a nice tank that has some nice interaction and is fun to watch.

The only other fish that has to go in it are blood parrots (don't judge). I've kept them in the past and enjoyed them. As far as how many at least 1 and up to 3. I don't want to only have sevs and blood parrots though so was looking for suggestions on additional cichlids I could put in.

I'm raising some sajica fry (all are 1/2 inch to 1.5 inches right now) in a 55 and would like to put a male or 2 males in there as well. I don't have to, i can keep them as a breeding project in the 55 for a time but eventually would like to move at least 1 pretty male over to the big tank.

Other cichlids I'd like to consider
Rainbows, chocolates, threadfin acaras (heckelii), eb acaras, nics, festivums, and anything else you guys think would mix well.

Obviously I don't have room for every species, and if i need to only keep 1 BP then that's fine to fit others in.

Also, any opinions on what size tank. Obviously the footprints are the same but am I really gaining anything by doing a 150 vs 125 etc.

Thanks guys

Some 150's are 4x2x2.5 which is a really odd size. For the fish you're interested in I think either would be fine really. A chocolate would be a nice addition to the severums. I keep Polleni with severums and chocolates too but it might get tight keeping them in a 125.

Thanks. I'm specifically interested in a 6 foot tank so whichever i decide it will be a 6 by 18 inch. More than likely it will come down to availability and price but wasn't sure if it really mattered.

Polleni is a cichlid I've noticed and it has caught my eye in the past. Are they on the lower end of the aggression spectrum like sevs and blood parrots (i know some say BP's are aggressive but at least in my experience they have not been)

So considering something like this would there be issues here? Alternatives are welcomed

2 Gold Sevs
2 Blood Parrots
2 Male Sajicas
1 Heckelii
1-2 Rainbow Cichlids/Polleni
Diamond tetras and hoplo cats

Could work. I would stick to one Polleni if you lean that way, maybe a female if available. I've found their temperament to be on par with that of Oscars. Not actively aggressive per se but definitely territorial.

Hmm I might stick to the rainbows then. More color that way anyways. Still very much open to suggestions though. I may be missing a gem of a cichlid I haven't even considered ;)

I'm certain there are literally hundreds. What about a large group of some smaller fish in addition to what you really want, like smaller Andinoacara or Laetacara?

I've kept laetacara dorsigeras in the past. I'll still have a 75 at my disposal so something that small I can put in there. Andinocaras are interesting especially the gold saums. I really like those but figured the aggression level was too high for what I wanted to stock (sevs and BP's specifically)

They are yes, but their are other varieties that are far less aggressive.

Hmm ok well after looking at those i think I'm sticking with the suggested stock. Any concerns about the stock or other suggestions are welcome
