[HELP] Tank NOT cycling

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Just keep testing your water regularly like you have been and do a water change when anything creeps up a bit more than it should.

Sounds like you're on your way to being cycled. Tanks rarely need anything other than water conditioner added to the water, try to avoid using any of those other chemicals... as you've already seen they typically do more harm than good. In the long run the best way to keep your tank's water healthy is just good ol' water changes and filtering. :)

SO I should Keep up with water changes? Knifegill said only when ammonia or nitrite levels are toooo high which they aren't ;o

but my nitrite levels are 1.0 possibly more tomorrow, should I do water change tmr?

You're doing great. Usually the nitrAtes aren't this high at this point in the game, so a small water change is a fine idea. But at this rate you'll be done in no time! Good work.

@knifegill I did the water change yesterday lowered the nitrites and Nitrate

Today SUPERBAC came and I put it in

before I put it in I did a water test:

Ammonia: .50 ppm
Nitrite: 4.0 ppm
Nitrate: 25 ppm
pH: 6.9 ppm

7 hours after I put it in another water test:

Ammonia: .25 ppm
Nitrite: 2.0 ppm
nitrate: 20 ppm

Nah. At this point just ride it out. You're really on the way now!

I was trying to cycle a ten gallon (my first tank) and towards the end I was getting really ticked off that the cycle wouldn't finish. The guy at my LFS told me to to hold off on water changes and just let it stabilize. Within three days all was golden and I only had to worry about nitrAtes thereafter. Your really getting a good snowball effect not that you have the superbac, so just watch it closely and don't change it again unless something gets really critical.
