[HELP] Tank NOT cycling

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes, that is probably bacterial bloom. If it doesn't go away within a week, then I'd worry about it, but since you are still cycling i'd say that is probably def the case.

Like I posted before, each time pH drops that low you're killing the majority of your bacteria. So this puts you back nearly at square one each time.

You're adding baking soda, but what is this bringing your alkalinity up to? You may have to add more for sufficient buffering. Each time you get a nitrite spike it is going to deplete some of your buffering (baking soda), so you need to keep the nitrites low enough that that doesn't happen significantly. You do this by doing water changes and adding significant buffering (baking soda) to the water you're adding.
And I'd also suggest running some kind of carbonate based rock to the tank to add to your buffering capacity. Limestone or Coral rock, like crushed coral gravel.

The cloudyness could be due to a bacterial bloom or more likely diatoms due to your water having significant amounts of nutrients with the addition of some light. That is less of a worry right now than your water parameters due to the tank not being cycled.

ITs very VERY cloudy right now..

getting cloudier everyday

pH is fine, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate is also all fine..

I dunno, I can't even see fish, turtles or my FINGERS if i put it in the tank 1 inch away

Are your fish still alive ?
What are your current water parameters ?
At some point cycling the tank takes a back seat to keeping your fish alive.

Friend, I'm just not sure what to make of this thread. It's just gone on forever.
I can't decide if you are listening to too many opinions or you just aren't listening at all (no offence intended). Any number of knowledgeable individuals have attempted to steer you straight and for some reason it's just not working.

Maybe it's time to start over again.

Are you monitoring your parameters "every" day ?
If yes share this weeks results, if no, Why not ?
Contrary to what you might think no one on this forum is or can be responsible for your tank.
You need to educate yourself.
Google is a wonderful tool.

BTW, It doesn't matter at this point why your tank is so murky.
Do a water change. At least 50 %.
Screw the cycle, save the fish.
$ .02 :irked:

Yes My fish are still alive
My current water parameters has been the same all week, I have updated like every other day here, it always is

.2 ammonia
0 nitrite
6.8 pH
5.0-10 RANGE nitrate (all week)

it's completely fine, the only problem is the cloudiness, I don't understand why u say I don't understand? It's simple, but i'm just saying because other people have told me to start worrying after a week?

I am educated I did use google to search up every thing, I spent a longgg time researching everything everything i'm serious, about the fish, diet, tanks, requirements, lighting, cycling, problems, questions, water tests, filters, every single thingokay.

yes I will do a water change, no it won't mess up my cycle because like knifegill said, i would turn off all my filters during the w/c and ill only change 50% and i will fully dechlronate blah blah nitrites, ammonia with prime before operating my filters again.

ps everything is fine except for bacteria bloom,

the fish are hardly in any harm.

doing a w/c as we speak

I don't want to knit pick but you last posted water parameters in post #128 (nine days ago).
You will get more, quality feedback if you post the results daily.

After thirty five days and 138 posts it still feels like this thread is going in circles. In my opinion if you are still getting ammonia readings either your bio filter is not sufficient or the cycling process is being impeded.

Any chance you could document exactly what you are doing here ?

This is not accurate as long as you continue to record ammonia readings every day. ;)
