I bought a new 8" tigrinus about a month ago and have still not been able to get him on a staple diet. I have tried black worms, market shrimp, hikari sinking carnivor pellets, freeze dried krill, and feeders. So far, I have not seen him go for, or eat anything. He has a hiding spot that I have put the food by, and I have tried feeding him in the dark. He is living with an 8" silver arowana right now who is eating fine and does not bother him in a 100 gallon tank. All my levels are fine and the Tig does not show any signs of being sick, besides being a bit thin :(... Am I missing something? I think after a month he should be at least going for something. Any Advice???
Thanks

yes I tried at night. I have tried putting food right by or on his mouth but he just swims away. I'll try again though, any other suggestions? do any vendors have any tricks of the trade?

if your really that scared i know that he probley cost you about 200 dollars but last resort force feed. i know its not good but if that the last resort, you gotta do what you gotta do

P.S
if you force feed try not to touch him to much because youll remove hes slime which is a bad idea and look in hes mouth and see if anything is wrong

someone help... big j? lol your the tig master...

If your water is fine and he lookes fine.... I would put a dozen Rosie Red's in there.. And if he goes a few days try some fresh Talapia (Good white fish) See how that goes also Ghost shrimp seem to be a favorite? Let me know feel free to pm if i can help more? They can go on hunger strikes for a very long time my big guy went 2 months and was fine so keep that in mind... Keep the water clean as possible that seems to induse hunger?

gl with him:)

Thanks guys I will try the dozen rosies,I just hope the aro doesn't get to em first. thanks alot for the advice, I really appreciate it. Also, how exactly do you force feed? this is deffinetly a last resort, but just in case...

Has it not eaten or you've never seen it eat? You can ask the guy you bought it from for advice...I'm sure he'll have some BS to tell you.
He told me that I killed a tig because my water was 80 degrees and they need colder water. Everyone else tell me 80 is fine.

If you got to feed feeders then feed feeders fatten it up and try again.
