did someone already propose this to congress or senate or who ever in the gov that will help in legalizing arowana breeding in us?

Someone should write/start a petition and have everyone here who is interested sign it and submit it to the government/powers that be!

youre right about that bro. Good thing in philippines the aro is legal.

is it really possible to breed asian arowanas in the U.S.? from what i understand Asian People are having difficulty in breeding Asian Arowana in Asian Countries, asian arowanas do not produce like guppies or tetras and Asian Arowanas need to be 5 year old and above to be matured enough to breed. How this is going to work?

Is save the aro website a dud? I joined a long time ago and there is like nothing new on there. I was there yesterday adn found that they stoped with the board member placing b/c some other org has something very similar but they would not go into detail. So does anyone know the fate of this website? or what org has the same concept.

it has been said here that it is illegal to import and sell arowana but is it possible that some specimens had come into the US prior to them becoming illegal? i know this could have happened in OZ and here atleast if we could prove the fish were that old and came in legally before they added them to the banned list then we are actually allowed to posses those fish as well as breed them and trade them. it seems a wierd law but thats how it is here at the moment. maybe there were specimens imported to US a long time ago.. and it sounds like you can own them legally. then ofcourse it has been mentioned somewhere here that some people got special permits to own a fish. if this is true can they be bred and traded. it would be a long way off but it is a way to get the ball rolling within the current laws, if you do have that law. there must be specimens in museums etc that are legal?

you're right , asian arowana are really hard to breed, most breeding farm just throw a bunch of them in to a mud pond (aquarium breeding was successful in japan i think but very rare). and let them pair them while they watch until the baby arowanas are born, and kept in the males arowana mouth , that's when they come in a catch the male arowana and take the baby away to sell .

damn. the asian aro better be legal! or else I'm smuggling them in from canada. LOL jk. but I hope they become legal in the near future.

go right ahead there will be people waiting for you. just for your info from my source one guy just got nailed about a month ago wit 20 crossbacks, whether you bring in one or a dozen you may take that risk and you can let us know the outcome.

they will not become legal anytime soon. instead why dont you move to Canada?

I support the asian aro breeding program in the US!

But honestly.. with our economy right now... theres more important issues at hand... i doubt the congress will spend time on a species of fish that is not native to the US..
