Help wanted! setting up tank for self cloning Marble crayfish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Marble crays are probably the easiest invert ever to get to breed... all i did was chuck in a load of drfitwood and one fake plant as cover for the babies and that was it...

I do agree that depending on how many feeders you want, and how often you feed that you may eventually need a larger tank... BTW, love the Evil Ernie Smiley... haven't seen that around for a while...

Yeah, considering they clone themselves, keep water clean and them well fed and you should be able to see babies pop out in no time... i think mine were at about 1.5" - 2" when i started to see them berry up...

As for Evil Ernie, yes, you can never go wrong with the classics... especially good ol' Ernie and his smiling side kick...

My crays have been molting like crazy!
The little one are getting about 1 1/2 ".
My big girl, Has molted twice in the last month.
But still, No berries?
Here are a couple pics

I got mine when it was 1.5-2" it's now 3" and I have been feeding her well. She is finally berried. It takes time I think. Extra food helps. I added fake plants and more decor that seemed to help too.

Once I started over feeding she dropped some eggs.

I am only keeping one in a 10gal. I will keep one of the babies and give away or feed the rest. Then wait for the next batch. These are only going to be treats not the main food source.

more room and cover is best they will prey on each other. i keep 15 adults in a 48 bow and regularly scoop out 1 to 1.5 inch juvies bi weekly to feed my 15 amazon tanks.

Thank you so much for the input. I have 4 that should arrive possibly tomorrow or Thursday. Their tank is all good to go. Have many establish tanks in our home. And have seeded well for BB I hope. The PVC pipe I am putting in? I sanded the black specification numbers for the pipe. Just didn’t particularly want numbers and stuff showing in my aquarium. It won’t release anything into my tank that I am not aware of will it? Cleaned everything up after sanding. Soaked in prime and water for 24 hours. And put in Cycled tank.
Please let me know if I’ve made any grave errors!
