if most of the bb lives in the filter and on the surfaces would large daily waterchanges with prime cause any ill effects?

Water Changes can cause you loss of BB so better to take it easy until your tank cycling is in check and the water clears. I love your tank layout, but big fish create a lot of waste and even though you think they're eating everything, they're probably blowing out a lot of food from their gills when eating pellets or something dry. That too can cause the planaria bloom if those particles are being trapped under rocks or under your tiles. For my big tanks I keep them bare. It does not look pretty at all but at least I know what's in the tank and can get to it easily if it needs to be removed. I think I've seen that combination of events so many times that I forced myself to go bare and increase my biological filtration, as well as mechanical filtration and siphoning excess food and crap out of the tank whenever necessary. With your bio load, I would definitely run a sump and the two cannisters, that way you can alternate cleaning schedules of the filters. This will also help you to do less drastic water changes and not risk upsetting the balance of your BB. I would not rely on cannisters alone to keep your ecosystem going.

You can google what that is in my water tank, its very common ive read lots about it in the last few days fella, it was outlined in the quote earlier in the thread what it is...
Maybe it is common in the UK, but your water would not pass water health inspections in the USA.
No matter what you say: Google does not have exact test results on your tub of water, or on others everywhere. When water sits, things change within the brew.
If that tub of sludge meets codes for acceptable household supply & storage methods, then municipal water supply companies aren't necessary.

This does explain everything about what you post in other threads, saying that big water changes cause problems. From now on, the only explanation needed is a photo of that tub.
Good luck, man.

Justarn, I think petspoiler and most of us are only trying to help by saying you need to stop that drip system until you get that cleaned out and tested. Most of us dont use something like that and we are totally fine, if not in a better situation than you are right now. Stick to the basics for now until you sorted things out.

Cheers guys I am taking it all in and yes that drip has been off for two days now, I have a new plan of running it from the cold feed under my kitchen sink soon as my cold taps are main fed... i have since read thats uk regulation...that tank just feeds the toilet and hot water I guess?? Ive been doing water changes with warm water for ever though which is odd?

On a plus the tank was almost crystal clear this morning... just sad I lost my f0 festae pair!-(

hard too believe what it looked like two days ago now!

Glad to hear you don't loose any more fish mate especially rocky ;) how they all doing ?
IMO you'd be better using the cold feed either under sink or where your washer is for the drip system the water quality got to be better
