wow!
What are the water paramaters....whens the last time you did a water change?

Have you got a better picture of it is it like an open sore or is it lumpy? If it was a Fungal Infection he melafix should have sorted it out. As Rallysman said “What are the water parameters?” Poor water quality: measurable ammonia or nitrites, or very high nitrates. Will bring on some nasty stuff.

Hopefully it is a bacterial infection and can be cleared up with tetracycline, Unfortunatly it looks more like Lymphocystis which has no cure but often clears on it's own after several months if the growths don't get infected. I would try the tetracycline treatment to see if it works, most take about 10 days, I would also use about 1 teaspoon saltper gallon as for both the bacterials and the lymphocystis virus salt helps prevent secondary infections and speeds healing.

I found a couple places that say "Quick Cure" by Aquarium Products ( a formaldahyde/malachite green formulation) sometimes works on lymphocystis if used as a dip, 10 minutes daily for a week at 5 drops per gallon.
It is pretty easy to find and cheap. Both Petco and Petsmart carry it at under $3 a bottle.

Glugea and Henneguya. Symptoms: Similar to Lymphocystis but they are lumps rather than sores Lymphocystis develop into whitish cauliflower-looking lumps have a look at

The quickest cure for "ick" and the first available cure for "lymphocystis." It is a scientifically formulated medication for both fresh and saltwater fish.

I don't think it is glugea as that presents as large smooth nodes with uniform edges. It could be one of the Henneguya, hopefully not though as it is quite contagious among fish.
Lymphocystis seems to be more common in warm water tanks and I have seen it as both the large "cauliflower" nodules and as a yellowish white, slightly raised, crusty growth with very irregular margins, much like the photos. The growths typically get thicker and rougher as they grow. None of what I saw were on my fish.
