Sand bed isn't deep at all and the rocks in other tank r very very lightly scattered

Sounds like ammonia or Nitrite poisoning to me. When was the last water change did you do both tanks at the same time/day? I would do a 50% water change right now add prime/safe and some aquarium salt. Do you have any meth blue on hand? How's the temp heaters working ok too hit in the tank?

Did a 50% wc Sunday & Monday when the hybrid started doing this added prime both times .... Ammonia and nitrite both r 0 they have always been 0 when I test .... I don't have the blue

I only do the small tank Sundays cause only has one small fish in it I do the other tank wendsdays and sundays

Try adding some aquarium salt. How old is the test kit? Can you take water to a LFS to get it double checked?

Test kit is less than a year old maybe 7 months 8 tops
