I would just keep shopping. That's a decent price for a tank, but not so great that it's worth the hassle of trying to find somewhere to take this fish.

Fish newbie or not, I can't understand why anyone would buy a pet, any pet, without doing their research first. I hope you can find him a new home. Someone mentioned to check with Bass Pro, mine only keeps local fish but that's a good idea.
