Help with 2 clownknives

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
my ck grew way faster tahn 1 in ch per month!
on massivore pellets by hikari, it grew to 12 inches in less than 1 year!
alot less, theya re freaks!
your tank is way to small, for one clown knife, let alone a royal pleco, and a tsn.
we dont have tsn in NZ, wish we did, but TSN is a true monster!

you really really really really need to get a bigger tank first...stop buying fish:D invest in a tank lol

then...slowly but surely, acquire specimens

Alright, i'll hold off on the royal pleco. Yeah, right now I just have 1 clownknive and 1 TSN. The CK is 7 inches and the TSN is 6 inches. Today, the fish are swimming a lot! Im glad they're getting use to their tank. I Know it varies but, how long does it take these fish to get use to a new acquairum? When I put them in my store's tank, they were eating the next day. Also, I keep reading, feed CK exclusively on feeders (I use rosie reds for now) and feed TSN feeders. This is what I've fed them for the past 3 months. Any other suggestions as to what they'll eat. I was thinking carnivorious sinking pellets and/or beefheart.

These fish do grow big but for now 1 CK and 1 TSN both under 8inches isn't that bad. TSNs do grow to be huge but you can somewhat slow down their growth rate pending on how much and how often you feed them. I was able to keep my TSN under 1ft within the first year only because I didn't want him to catch up to my silver arowana before he got a chance to get thick. Carnivorous sinking pellets are an excellent source of nutrition for CKs however it greatly increases their growth rate. I fed mine the smaller carnivorous sinking pellets and then bumped them up to the massivore sinking pellets when they were around 1ft. Only thing is if ur TSN eats them too, he will also shoot up. Also I wouldn't recommend a strictly feeder diet for either of the two. Hope this helps. Good luck with ur mini monsters!:)

Alright. I tried the sinking pellets and no dice, he didnt eat them, neither did the tsn. I also threw in some algae wafers cuz the red tail cats at my store eat them and I figured, why not try to see if he'll eat them, no luck with that either lol. I tried krill, the clownknive didnt touch it. SO, today I bought frozen bloodworms and frozen beefheart. I dont care if they grow a little from these foods cuz its a good source of protein, I just want them to start to eat. I think they're still adjusting to the new tank but neverless...I want to make sure they're okay.

Try nutrafin sinking shrimp&krill pellets or Hikari carnivore sticks.

Not only time to adjust, but you might have more luck in feeding when the lights are out at first. My CK only ate feeders for a while, then I started silversides cut up. Once they accept the dead fish, you can switch to Hikari Massivore. They L O V E it. My golden can't get enough of them, eats them right out of my hand. Feeders can introduce so many diseases and parasites into the tank that I rarely, if ever feed them. Just a warning, the massivore smells really bad. One of those things where you have to get a courtesy sniff from at least one or two people lol.

if you are changing the food you will have to stave them for 4 to 7 days... but they will take it eventually... they can go a long time without eating with no problem... and for the size... i have 2 clowns in different tanks... one was 4 inch in may... he is now 15 or 16 inch but he got feeders for a good long time which will make them grow faster... the other was 6 inch and is now 12 to 13 inchs... he is on hikari massivore pellets... that's in 5 months... and they were together at first with no problem... but then the smaller start fighting and they beat each other up so i had to get another tank... as for the TSN I got one that was 3 inchs about 3 months ago and now is a solid 8 inchs.. but i have a tigrinus that was 6 inchs and in the same time is only 10 or so... just depends on how much you feed.. but they will grow fast... and like some have said TSN get to 24 inch at around a year... and would say probably about the same with the clown knifes....

o and the clown knife and TSN you might find where is says that they will get 4 ft. or so... but in home tanks... i haven't seen many clowns over 30 inchs... and TSN over 35... they tend to be smaller than in the wild
