I have noticed looking around on the internet that there are a lot of tanks that have a black background. I currently have a photographic background (I guess is what you call it). I am having trouble keeping the background flush with the back of the tank so it can be clearly seen. So back to my real question what can I use for the black background. I have a 150 gallon tank that is 72" long and 30" tall. Thanks for your help.

has anyone ever tried a backround made from something at like a craft store?
maybe fabric or plastic ?

i did mine in 3-d. it was for reptile back grown, but i sprayed it with Marine clear coat. But, if you want to go black, blue, ect back ground, i sprayed mine with krylon flat black.

I used black acrylic paint from a craft store. It works well, but takes about 4-5 coats. Clean the glass well, then paint away. If you don't like it, the paint removes with a razor blade with some effort required. I then use a flashlight to make sure the entire back is painted evenly, and no paint gets through.

i just have black paper .. then again my tank is only 10 gallons
