i did a nitrate test,the color that showed up results to a 5ppm result on the test card

no! NO! no! I SAID nitrite!!!

Ammonia -----> Nitrite -----> Nitrate = The Nitrogen cycle

I have recently ran into the same problem after adding an FX-5 with 1/3 esatblished and 2/3 new media to my well established 180g. I got two answers, either microbubles from cansiter or BB bloom. Seeing as how this happend to you after adding the AC110 then I would say it is a BB bloom and it should clear up in a few days.

my 300 is going through that stage right now. i added medium blue filter pads to the top of my fx5's for extra mech filtering just in case. i would have to say its a bb bloom. mine looks the same, im about 3 weeks into cycle, if i do a large water change it clears up for a day then back to cloudy. is your tank cycled?

i have a uv on my 125 and its always crystal clear so i ordered 1 for the 300. it also help with parasites too. not 1 outbreak ever on the 125 and do a lot of feeder minnows.

You can also try feeding your fish less shrimp. Shrimp will do that also,especially if you feed them everyday. For sure I would recommend a uv light. I had the same problem with my tank when I was feeding them shrimp, that hazy whitish color and shrimp was the cause of it.

ammonia is 0
and for everyone posting the:hitting: comments save the typing for the people who are actually helping.

I would like to help get you on the same page. Nitrites(not Nitrates) which is the second part of the above Nitrogen cycle turns into Nitrates. This is what Death Sting is asking you for.

To test your Nitrites, I use an API test kit that allows me to drop 5 drops of nitrite solution to my test tube to get an actual reading after 5 minutes. When your tank is cycled, your Nitrites should be at 0 also known as the color light blue.

Food/poo ---> ammonia ---> Nitrites ---> Nitrates

Death Sting was asking about Nitrites. I hope this helps.
