Hey guys,

Today I got given a injured/damaged flowerhorn.
Trying to nurse it back to health but I'm unsure as to what I should do.

I've been told to just leave him alone and do regular WC's and stress coat.
And someone reccommended Melafix.

Here are pictures of him,

There are no fungus on the wounds and there is not any redness coming from the wounds.

Should I use Melafix or should I just leave it and do regular WC's?

Thanks guys,
Swarsh

whats the temp at??? add a lil salt!!!

What happened?! Do 20-30% water chances everyday, add aquarium salt. Melafix can be used if you want. I'd recommend it. Make sure the temperature of the tank is 80-82 degrees.

The temp of the tank is 26.9 celcius~ so i should increase it ?
Apparently he had a fight with a frontosa (sp) =/

How much salt should be added or can I just use Melafix instead of salt, as I have never tried using salt before.

Thanks,
Swarsh

Dang that Frontasa went to town on that Fh. 26.9 celcius converted to Fahrenheit is about 80 degrees? I think your good but bumping it up a bit wouldn't hurt. You can use Melafix alone if you want. For salt.. its 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons of water. Good luck.

Ahh thanks,
btw, about tolerance on melafax/salt~
can pleco's and datnoids tolerate it? or should I move them all before doing it?

Thanks again,
swarsh

The FH should be in a quarantine tank by himself, if possible. Nice of you to try and bring him back to a healthy state.

Ok thanks guys!
1tsp/1gal, Do I add that in everyday? WC when?

sorry so many questions!
