What kind of stupid advise is that to give

Adding ammonia to an established tank with fish in it. That's beyond stupidity, why are you trying to harm this kids fish?

ok, two questions.
1) About half of the Bio-max is sticking out above the water in the filter. Is this bad
2) I bought pure ammonia. How much should I add?

It's a fw 75g btw and all that's in it is a snail.
