how do i feed them these shrimp? just set it on them?
and you say get as much on them as i can?

i found out i have a trumpet, a candy coral, a brain, 3 zoanthids, and a soft coral od some sort. does anyone know which ones should go where in the tank (as far as which one goes up the highest and which should be closer to the bottom?

I'm pretty anal about my feeding ritual but at the minimum, I'd defrost the mysis in tap water, drain in a brine shrimp net & soak overnight in a little tank water & Selcon. Then turn off all your pumps & spot-feed with a turkey baster. You have to do this slowly or the food will go everywhere but on the coral. You will see them extend it's feeder tentacles. It's amazing to watch them eat! Wait about an hour, to turn your pumps on, so everyone has time to eat.

so do my tumpet corals for instance have "feeder tentacles"? ive noticed holes in the middle of each polyp, is that something like a mouth?

Yes, that is a mouth but your brain & possibly the other coral will have mouths & feeder tentacles on them too. Just put a little food into the water & they will come out & then you can turn off the pumps & see where the food goes. Do you have a skimmer on there? Can you post a good closeup of the unknown coral?

the unknown one is actually dead. it bleached out like 2 months ago :( it was some kind of hard to keep SPS. i didnt know what i was getting into when i took that one from him. it was purple and pink. by the way, the brain is turning a very light color, i will just be getting rid of it. i think its done for. the trumpet looks like hell too, more and more rock is showing through the fleshy coral (because the coral part is getting smaller and smaller :( ). however, all the zoanthids look great (i didnt have them when i took those pictures), and i will soon take a picture of this new one that wasnt in the original pictures i posted (those pics are a month old). its soft and bright orange...and i have a little rock with a bout 3 or 4 very little mushroom corals on it that are doing well too..
by the way does a dying coral give of ammonia?
the candy cane looks decent. i really need to learn how to take care of these.
it seems zoanthids and mushrooms are very hardy.....anyone else notice this?

what are some just basic things as far as feeding and care-taking? im trying to read about it too, but i really want some opinions from people who have first hand experience.

Trumpet coral feeder tentacles look like this:

In addition to feeder tentacles they can also extend sweeper tentacles which can actually be several inches in length.

Please post the following water parameters:
specific gravity, alkalinity, pH, calcium, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and phosphate.

ammonia: .65ppm, nitrite kit is missing, nitrate: close to 0, PH: 8.2, ALK: 2.7 SG: 1.023
i dont have a phosphate kit.... and the calcium shouldnt be too low as i use a product called "Purple Up" a few times a week to help grow coraline algae.
