HELP with largemouth bass

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Cool fish. I never kept a LMB in my pond but I did keep a SMB before. That fish was fast as lightining when it came to feeding time!

Try to get some pics. My friend has one in his pond and it kind of stinks. The reason being is that it is hard to see. The pond is gravel lined and the bass, being a natural predator, blends in so well w/ the surrondings that it is almost a waste of time. Granted, when it comes to feeding it a 6" chub it comes out and is a really cool fish. I think bass are awesome, and I guess in the right pond or tank will be a cool fish. Good luck w/ the little guy and take some feeding vids. when he gets bigger.

Hey guys, I have a 10 gallon aquarium with one 2 inch long largemouth bass i know this tank is not big enough to keep for life or even for 6 months ... I just had a few questions... I have an air pump with a 6 inch air stone... is this too many bubbles to have for only one fish in a 10 gallon? if so what is the right size of air stone for this size aquarium.. should I even have bubbles at all for this type of fish...?

if you arent that experienced just let the fish go. you will need such a large tank in the future its probably not even worth keeping.

If you aren't experienced (or can't read stickied topics) you should not give this type of advice Pooface. Please read:http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89158

It's against the law to release a fish once it's been outside of it's natural water.

Rodger,
I don't think the size of the airstone is too big but it's quite possible you have too great a volume of air passing through it. A small fish kept alone in this tank will not require much air volume.

I think you should get a gang valve if you feel the water is too turbulent for the fish. You can allow some of the air to escape by opening an unused port of the valve and regulate the volume to the tank. I think you should have an airstone at the very least (unless you have a small powerfilter). Do you have an external powerfilter?

Pooface,
Don't take it personally but come on. You started with the "experience" buzz word and besides Rodger clearly indicates in his first post that he understands his 10 gallon is not suitable for life or even short term.
