did you wash the ceramic rings first? there should not be any dust if you rinsed them.
Yea I rinsed it first but there was still some dust, the it got caught in my impellor so I rinsed it piece by piece but there were still dust:irked:, I guess it was from the ceramic rings grinding on each other? The rings were Fluval biomax, and it was already dusty when I bought it. Is it normaly suppose to be like that?

after you rinsed it there shouldn't have been any dust.

I don't run anything inside the carbon container, it seems to clog quickly with stuff in it. Without media in the container, I can run it for weeks without maintenance. Alot of folks don't like the maintenance on the magnum, but I think it is just as convenience as my XP3.

I've run my magnum for years with the media container full of Ehfisubstrat, use the stock polyblue filter rap which is rinsed once a month and replaced every three. This setup works very well.

808 did you just fill the entire canister with biomax?

No I tried first by filling the carbon media container with biomax, but I guess some dust managed to get into the impellor and stop it from spinning. I didnt really like this way because the carbon media containers hold so little compared to if I were to fill the whole canister. I was going to give biomax another try but this time run it in mediabags instead of just dumping it into my canister.

Bderick67,How is ehfisubstrat? Dusty? How much of it did you get into the carbon media container?
