K well i guess i am going with resut reformer, but what should i put on the metal after that to keep it safe for the fish and something that silicon will stick to?
For underwater use, there are several types of paints that you can use. I am not fond of rubber based paints because of peeling and blistering problems. I'd go with an epoxy based paint. There are numerous other options such as Sanitred, etc. The paint will be the easiest to get and apply. See what is available at a local paint shop for underwater use.
Another thing, see if your equipment is complete. Your pump is missing the diffuser, volute, & trap (sometimes optional). I have a wholesale parts catalog and can get you any info for the equipment. See if you can get model numbers off the equipment. Also, post a pic of the spare parts and I'll tell you what they are.
K sounds good i don't know if i will be usiing those my lfs here is offering me some good dealts on filters and heats so might go that route cuz the will be cheaper to run. O and that stuff is there i just took it apart to clean it thats why u can't see it.
How much do u figure a 1/2 horse jacuzzi pump would cost to run per month???
Rust reformer as the base coat or primer then the 2part epoxy. The reformer should be on the first thing on the steel to do it's job of "reforming". THe epoxy is there to seal out all the poison from the fish.
i was going to sugest a epoxy, its realy good for diy tank making... any yes use the reformer, wait, then scuff it up with a maroon scuffpad or steel wool, clean it and apply the two pary epoxy, the more you add, the hotter it will be, if you do two thin(1/8" ish) coats with a good scuff inbetween you will be golden... unless you got a slow curing epoxy then one good 3/8 thick aplication will last for YEARS.... make sure if you have a lip in the metal and the glass for the epoxy to go up to the glass..., that way you dont need silicone, but i would use it any way... why not, Right?
