Throw some food in about 30 mins after lights out. Mine are 10" after 5 months. I'd say your lucky, but something is stunting their growth. In case you didn't know they can get to over 3ft in aquarium. 4ft in the wild. Hope you have a pond or something planned. They are fine outside too. I'd say more than likely it's diet more than anything. You need to feed him enough so that he's not just eating leftovers. He should look pleasantly plump after a feeding. Try cutting up some market shrimp small enough for him to eat. That's what I give mine, and they grow like weeds. lol. Good luck.

you can feed it at night all you want it is very normal for cats to eat at night. Mine is a beast once the lights go out but doesn't like to move very much while they are on. He just hangs in the shadows but once the lights are out look out for anybody that get's in the way of his food.

Mine does that too. I see him in the reflection of my tv but as soon as the lights go on he is back under the driftwood.

How do you guys think I can get this cat to come out in the day?

I'm surprised most of your cats are nocturnal. My Channel Cats have always been day - time dwellers

if you feed during the day will it not come out? Mine will for the food then go back into hiding. I generally turn the tank light off though when I feed to make it easier for him to get the food. I have to throw a lot in at a time to get it past my cichlids down to him, but at night he is A LOT more aggressive about eating. He actually will harass my red devil festaes and buttikoferi to get at the food. I don't worry about him being active during the day though his comfortable spot puts him in plain viewing for me :)

The removing decorations works but in my opinion doesn't make for very happy fish. If a fish would rather be active at night I say let him, it's the fish's choice.

Nope. Feeding or not he wont come out until the lights are off.
