Help with old channel

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That's pretty slow. Rallysman and I had a channel that was well over a foot long in about a year. He/she now lives in the pond at our favorite pet store because it outgrew our 265. Ours ate just about everything you threw in the tank. Minnows, earthworms, pellets, CATFISH NUGGETS, shrimp, etc. We also have a drip system on that tank dripping about one gallon an hour.

I just have one small fake plant in my tank, they don't even try to hide behind it anymore. They swim together, and lay together on the bottom. They send each other into a feeding frenzy. I just rescued another channel today that was kept in a 55 gal tall for the last year and a half. It was only 6" long. When the owner saw my channels he was like man they must be old. when I told him they were only 5 months he was in shock. His was also the palest white I have ever seen in a albino, mine are a nice cream color, they new one is much lighter and much skinnier than my other ones. But the owner was only feeding him fish flakes, and really cheap ones at that. Shrimp are about $6 for 2 lbs. here. I feed them to all my fish. I dice them really small for my smaller fish. Saves me lots of money on food. I feed it to my channels, my rtc, both my tsn, all my cichlids, my oscars, my knifefish, my rope eel, my plecos, and my big a$% hybrid, but of course I feed other things as well as shrimp just shrimp is the filler in their diet. Lots of protien. Colors them up real nice too.
