hey guys so i have a 55g tank right now and i want to upgrade the filtration. Currently i am debating between and fluval 405, and odyssea CFS4, or a SunSun 303(which is what i am leaning toward because i like the idea of a uv sterlizer built it. I know that the sizes im picking are bigger than my tank needs but i want a filter that could work on a bigger tank if i ever upgrade.
So any advice on those filters will be appreciated and if someone else has an recommendation for a different filter please let me know. thanks for the help

I have a 55 with an eheim 2115 and a whisper ex70 (changing out to ac110 soon). So far so good. Another member on here has the 2115 and ac110 and loves it. Very good combo.

is ac110 a power filter? do i have to have a power filter running with my canister...i'l be doing this anyways but im just curious...any more advice will also be appreciated

You dont need to. A canister will work fine. If you haven't noticed already, the typical theme on this forum is "You can never have enough filtration" :headbang2

AC110 and an eheim 2215 make my water absolutely sparkle. Its a relatively cheap combo too!
I also have an under gravel filter powered by quite a bit of air but that is a toss up ( I personally wouldn't own a tank without it )
(referring to my 55)

what makes the fluval better than the other options, ive been searching ebay and i find filters that have the same flowrate has a fluval 405, i think they are made by jeboa?...but anyways they are like a hundred dollars cheaper. Am i just paying for a brand name, or is the fluval going to perform better?

I would go with the fluval 405. that is what I run on my 55 along with a marineland 350 HOB, seems to be plenty.
