Eheim is excellent if you can get the 2217 you wont regret it. Worth every penny at the prices on Bigalsonline.com:headbang2 I got my 2215 for around 120 shipped

i agree. fx5 FW. thats the one to get right there. but its kind of overkill for a 55. lol
Big time overkill for a 55 IMO:headbang2

I can't really compare it to a Fluval, 'cause I've never had one, but I can say my Eheim 2217 is amazing. I got it for $125 from www.drsfosterandsmith.com, and it should handle 90 gallons with ease.

I hooked it up to my heavily planted 20L to get it cycling before moving everyone over to the 90, and all i can say is WOW. I noticed it was cleaning up so much crud I decided to backflush it a week after setting it up, and was absolutely amazed at what it picked up. The crud that came out of the filter from backflushing after 1 week of running is about 3x the crud that comes out of the Penguin 150 on the tank after running for a month!

My tank has cleared up very visibly since starting to use this, and it's super easy to use, too. Plus, the adaptability is awesome- I can put anything i want in it. I had a bunch of floss bags for old Tetratec HOB filters, so I tossed them in the top of my 2217 for water polishing, compared to having to buy new stuff and throw these away. Next I'm going to try cotton batting. Who knows after that?

My 55g is filtered by an AC 110, Fluval 404, Whisper 60, and I have a powerhead with a quickfilter attachment (loaded with floss)that is hooked up to my light switch outlet for a lil extra polishing.

Got the Fluval 404 off of ebay for $79 w/free shipping brand new, it basically the old version of the 405.

But i stock fairly heavy.

What is OP stock list?
