So I rescued two large unwanted EBJD's before a beloved local lfs closed. The fish had been returned badly ammonia burned. They looked horrible! I've had them for probably 6 months and they had recovered quite a bit. I believe they have now either contracted some kind of intestinal parasite or are just extremely constipated. I tragically lost the smaller of the two yesterday and the larger is doing better but not good. Frantically trying to save him. Read about epsom salt so im going to try that after treating for parasites seemed to do nothing. And also, how do you get a constipated cichlid that wont eat, to eat peas?!???

How do you get them to eat peas if they're not eating anything?

No Idea - If they not eating I am not sure - Thats not a Good thing at all

Well...its been another couple of days without eating or poopin as far as I've seen. Been treating with epsom salt which doesn't seem to have done much. Still looks very bloated around his abdomen. Tried to get a pic. Not sure what else to do for my big guy. uploadfromtaptalk1327933338408.jpguploadfromtaptalk1327933365724.jpg

If its constipation I know salt helps. I am not fish treatment expert though.I wish others would chim in for ya

I know! I just feel bad for him. He doesn't act sick except being a little lethargic and not eating. But it looks like it's painful. I'm about ready to try and squeeze the poop out of him, or try and give him a mini fish enema!

Sorry for your loss. I don't know what I'd do if I lost mine.
