I have 2 baby spiny softshells and I just can't get them to eat I have never had a problem like this before they constantly have minnows in there for them to eat if they like and I also put a few ghost shrimp, snails, and worms in there and they just wont eat anything. Does anyone have any suggestions on this and what to try and do to geet them to eat? I just dont want them to be starving.

what is your set up like? do you have a heater? with the seasons changing (temps getting cooler out and it getting darker sooner) it might be affecting them. so if the tank is in a room that has a draft or has a window they can sense feel that. move them into an inner room without a widow. raise water temps to 78-82. make sure basking spot is 90-95. and keep on rying to feed like normal.

Hummm...that maybe a sign that something is wrong:( Softys normaly have a more than healty apetite. Give them a few days ,cover and raise the temps

Definitely raise the water temperature to around 78-80 F. if you haven't already. That should increase their appetite. Make sure you're feeding a turtle pellet as well. I really wouldn't make fish their primary diet. Worms, shrimp and snails are good though. You can also feed cichlid and koi pellets, freeze-dried shrimp, bloodworms and crickets.

All has been said above. How long do you have them?

They need a basking area, also softies prefer shallow water so that they can lie on the bottom and stick their nose out of the water to breathe.
Sorry but not true;) softys are among the greatest swimers in the turtle world and they like and need deep water to swim correctly. Of corse use common sence, dont keep a hachling in like 2 feet of water:D But they need a basking area;)

I heat my tank it is about 79 degrees. I havent tried pellets yet since they arent even eating live food but I will try some. I have the tank where there is a slope in the bottom so they can choose to be in shallow or deeper water or n one at all and there are plenty of plants in there too for them to hide in. I have had them for 2.5 weeks now. And I have put some very small aquatic insects in there too and I cant tell if they have eaten them or not they are just to small to find easily.
