At work today I had a lady come in with some questions about her green iguanna she had had 2 but one just died this morning and wanted to know what was wrong with it. So it sounds like to me it has MBD it has the swollen jaw and rubbery bones in its legs. She is keeping it in a 10 gallon fish aquarium no heat not UV and it is on sand. To make a long story short she couldnt afford to buy anything for it so she is going to be bringing it in to me after work tomorrow. She said it is about 4 inches long not counting tail. I need to know everything I possibly can on what to do. For the time being I am going to have to put it in a 29 gallon because I dont want to put it near my other reptiles unti it passes its quaratine it is going to be in there then an upgrade. I have the UV and heating, perches and all of that kind of stuff I just need to know care requirements and how to treat it for the MBD and there isnt a herp vet anywhere near where I live so I am gonna kinda have to do this myself which is stressful since i dont want to further hurt this little guy. I can get liquid calcium and vitamins if I need to use it I just need instructions on how to use them. Also what kind of substrate would all of you recommend I was thinking newspaper for the time being so I can keep an eye on its stools and to prevent impaction which it already may have from the sand. Any help is very much appreciated I just want to get this poor guy comfortable and healthy if possible. Thank you so much in advance.
