Young rays can be very particular and when they are this thin it isn't the time to try to get them to start taking new foods. Our batray will only eat krill & ghost shrimp. We have offered her night crawlers & red worms on many occassions, she runs from them like they are poison even if we cut them up. We feed her twice a day and she is fat and sassy. She is a little over 8 months old. Load your pup up on ghost shirmp so there is an abundance in there. Once you get some weight on him they you can try feeding other things, until then use what you know he likes.

thanks for the tips, im goign to put a few dozen in there today and let him just go at it....the pet store doesnt open until noon and i fed him the last of what i had yesterday so, hopefully this week I can fatten him up...

So I just got back from the pet store I bought 4 dozen ghost shrimp, 12 night crawlers, and a box of frozen prawns. I put 12 in as soon as I got back ad he destroyed them all, and he ate a while night crawler :) I will have some pics up soon!

glad to hear he is eating hopefully things will start looking up and you will now know to feed more in the future. some lessons are hard learned

Glad to hear he is eating again. Just keep pumping the food to him and he'll be fine. The night crawlers are better for him if he'll eat them, but a variety is best if you can get him to accept different things. Sometimes you can't though....

Oh no black worms are good for all fish just very spendy and once you can get ray's broke off of black worms you don't want them to start eating them all the time again. I give them to mine as a treat. But I know the kind of pigs my parent rays are and they would try and take any from the baby.

Everyone here has given you great advise already. I would let the shrimp eat something like massivore pellets or even black worm if they will eat them, before you put them in. It will sort of give them a little something extra. Also something else I have used in the past to treat a ray is Metro. In fact I used metro with prazi pro. Just a thought. I would also try to get him to eat earthworms, cut them up to start if you need too. Another thing is that he is skinny which means he is feeling poorly, I would limit his light time. Rays like it dark and warm when they are healing, possibly even cover the tank. Just a few suggestions. I was able to bring the male that Grapedinox curently has, back from disk curl and skinny (parasites ), by doing those things. Good luck with him, hope he gets better soon!
