I'm sorry if you folks think I'm a poser. I certainly was never going to lie if the subject came up. It did still have its teeth and I ws scared out of my mind. If I had the chance, I would still hold a venomous one; only after extensive training. And I resent the total newb remark.

All in all it has its teeth, is wild, but is devenomed. It's still one of the coolest things I've done and I am just as proud for doing it.

So I guess I'm a mild poser, but it was fun. Hopefully no hard feelings. It was an incredible experience! Few people in the world have held a Black Mamba venomous or not.

You keep referring to it's "teeth", you are not real snake educated are you?:grinno:
 
I would definately love to hold a venomoid Mamba! One of my favorites snakes. But if it wanted to bite you, you'd get bit. That snake could come around so fast you wouldn't even have time to blink.

Armac, what do you mean abou the teeth, all snakes have teeth ('cept egg eaters). Sometimes they pull the fangs on venomoids, but they still have their lower jaw teeth. Defanging a snake is generally a very cruel procedure, as most are done by the owners, not qualified vets, using pliers.
 
dude if that's a real black mamba, all i can say ids that ur a nuffy for holding it....they kill u in like a matter of minutes after they bite from memory....u got guts tho... :)

I was referring to the fact by "teeth" he meant the fangs, the teeth carry no venom and the venom is the dangerous part...........that is right, isn't it SimonL...............:WHOA:

Yup, that's right, but if the surgery isn't done right, you can still be envenomated through a wound from the other teeth, even if the fangs are gone.

That's the problem with venomoids, you can't treat them as harmless, if anything they are more dangerous because they encourage carelessness. I would personally love a venomoid mamba, but I would never trust it.

I have a bunch of very toxic fish, and I move my reef stonefish by hand, but it's a big, slow-moving lump, snakes are FAST.

Princley, yes he's holding it correctly for a NON-Venomous snake, please don't tell me that's how you think you should handle one of the world's most venomous snakes.

SimonL bro #1 you see it on TV everyday how they hold Venomous Snakes and that just what he's doing.. i have held Coral Snake in a simlar way and have seens friends hold Corbras in similar ways ...watch Jeff C sometimes ..

Also if anyone is CRAZY nuff to own such a snake contact Everglades Herps..aslong as you are able to obtain a permit they will be happy to sell to you not all state allow permits tho
