The first time I ever heard of this locatation variant was on Ira's sale thread. Being some one who loves carpintis, I wanted one but didnt know exactly what I was getting into. Ive read about "Lahillas", "Chariel", and "Escondido" (which I thought was always the most impressive) but never "Vontehillo". I would usually read about it in an article first. Can anyone tell me any info about this?

Here is an amazing male I got today from Ira. About 5-6", very aggressive, I highly recommend getting one. Thanks again Ira! I think its topped my "Escondido".

Yes, very nice. And I agree with you - seems to surpass escondido.

I got 2 from Ira in December at about 1" and they are now about 2.5" and looking good! I hope they look as good as yours John...that thing is beautiful.

Thanks. I am a firm believer in good care = beautiful fish. Keep that water clean and Im sure they will be stunners. even at that size you can see great pearling. I didnt give these Vontehillos much credit

your guy looks SWEET!!! yeah i got three from Ira at the same time/size VRWC got his and mine are looking great, already at only 2.5in they are showing great colors especially around their gill plates, i have a small escondido in there as well and he is a little smaller at about 2in but i think they showed more color than he is when they were at that size, escondidos are actually the fish that got me interested in freshwater again so it will be interesting to see how both of these variants compare as they grow since i got them all at about the same size, they are pretty outgoing not skittish at all but not too overly aggressive either as my tank is pretty mild as far as CAs go

it is as beautiful as any other.. Nice catch. I love it.

I dont think so. And im not talking about just mine. I think the Vontehillo blows the other carpintis out of the water, but thats a matter of opinion. I think if you like color on your fish, you like this variant more.

But does any one know anything about this variant other than it comes from Vontehillo and Ira sells em.
How come no one else really had them until now? Is it new? If so I just have not seen any articles on a new carpintis. Did every one know about these forever and im just hearing about it now?
