The sole supplier of these fish (Don) has released them to Ira exclusively. He told me last weekend. I even saw them in the ponds.

Ned that is correct however a small group of 1.5" f1s were sold to AJ yesterday. They are beautiful fish and expanding the distribution is a great benefit to the hobby. There are several young adult pairs in the US and Canada lets hope they start breeding soon so availabilty ceases to be an issue.

Where is "Vontehillo"?

Google and Google Earth can't find it...

My guess would be Odessa, Florida.

(Sorry..... it was too easy!)

Seriously though, some of the collection locales are indeed informally named. The source should be able to clear that up though...

exactly, alot of these fish that you have need to be spread out
over the hobby , At your prices though lol:D

a pair can be very aggressive toward each other. Females usually like the picture above, big pearl on the face and forehead, male doesn't have pearl on the forehead. I think i was the first person who ordered a wild pair from Ira and the male killed the female shortly after they acclimated the tank. I did add a divider, but female jumped over the divider and when i got home, it was up side down with half of the scales bitten off, treated 3 days but no hope.

Before they're spread out over the hobby, it makes sense to know what the heck they actually are... where they are from...

Texas cichlids aren't exactly hard to breed. If someone in my local club breeds these, I'd expect to see bags at meetings and auctions for <$10...

Ya get a nice male, and then get 3 or 4 F1 females to mass produce fry.
