so does anyone know where this fish is actually from? The collection location doesn't seem like a real place...

My guess would be Odessa, Florida.

(Sorry..... it was too easy!)

Seriously though, some of the collection locales are indeed informally named. The source should be able to clear that up though...

Like has been pointed out, a fish that blew up out of nowhere, no place goes by the mentioned name..........makes you wonder.

They are pretty fish.

I hybridized a carpintis and cyn, came out with a huge big bulging male.

The sole supplier of these fish (Don) has released them to Ira exclusively. He told me last weekend. I even saw them in the ponds.

Did DON tell you he released them exclusively to Ira? Sounds like it from your comment. Ira said he didn't have them exclusively.

Hmmmm.......

Interesting how MASSIVE the hybrid became. Pretty impressive.

He was like a frankenstein fish.......I liked him. I called him Carpintis Armac Edinburg, could never get anyone to believe it was a new species. I was the exclusive distributor.

At least Edinburg is find-able on Google Earth :)

And since Edinburg is IN Texas and VERY close to Mexico I had no qualms about selling all the Carpintis Armac Edinburg as wild caught. They had strong jaws, that is how you could tell they were wild caught.:headbang2

From what I read, either Don or Ira.. But who got the ponds? Don Maybe?
