  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hey jimmy thanks so much just got done reading the article and it was really helpful and those are some nice pics, i am liking these guys more by the minute lol do you guys have any advice on preventing bloat? should i keep them by themselves first to reduce stress and then wait to add them until they have gained some size? the ones he has are only 1.25-1.5in so i think i would have to grow them out first as i think my 5in senegal would make a quick meal out of them :(

oh ok yeah thats what i thought but wasnt sure if there was anything else? its good though gives me a chance to break out the bottle of algae wafers i bought that none of my current fish will touch LOL

PM Ira. I'm not sure but I think he's getting some larger sized specimens. He could definitely give you a good description, if not a picture. Here's a photo of a young male at 2.5-3" that I took when I visited him last weekend.

lol, this male is reserved for me. Iras shipping it soon I hope. He did say that hes getting a few more. If not Rapps has some not much smaller.

Very beautiful fish. Can be a trouble maker at times. Never had a problem with bloat with these guys. They will eat, and eat, and eat... Very easy fish to care for. More hardy than a Carpintis in my experience.

Ive had no problems with bloat or aggression yet. (touch wood)

I think good filtration and good tank maintenance is as important as diet with regards bloating. mine are fed 3x feedings of tetraprima granules( feeder while im at work ) and 1x feed of rinsed frozen brineshrimp, krill or bloodworm. I perform 10-20% warm water changes daily and regulary vac the gravel.

ok so i decided to order 3 of these guys, other person im going in on order with is calling rapps to put it in so i might have these guys saturday morning!!! im really hoping to end up with a pair but i guess only time will tell they will be in their own smaller tank to begin with (since my sens would make quick work of a 1.25-1.5in fish lol) but will hopefully grow fast and be able to go into the big tank soon:headbang2:headbang2:headbang2
