wantin to string line across pond

H-E-R-O-N. Herring is a fish.

You can string bird netting, use a motion detection pest sprinkler/noise maker, or add predator 'scarecrows' to keep the heron from treating your pond like a buffet.

How bigs your pond?

Netting your pond will prevent heron attacks, providing that you follow this simple rule:- You need to suspend the net between 6" to 1 foot above the surface of the pond and keep it tight, otherwise the heron may try to land on the net and spear through it. It's effective, but unfortunately it's also obtrusive. If its small garden trellis works well just put it out when job finished take fold it away.

My fave and the one i have used is to suspend strong fishing line about a foot above the ground all around the pond edge.

or somthing like this

My aunt had that problem, she got a fake plastic Heron and staked it up beside her pond, apparently the real bird will think that the pond is already taken and leave you alone. It worked for my aunt, you should be able to find one at a local pond store.

i had a duck problem this summer they would get threw or under the cover i had i got 2 formed plasstic ponds in a fenced in area so i started locking the dog in there during the day took care of that:D but if u dont got a dog whenever u see that bird bottle rocket his butt fireworks will scare the hell out of him.:WHOA:

Once they find your pond they always come back. The best solution I have found is a 22.

Keep moving the heron, keep a net on the pond, and get a dog. If you don't have a dog, keep an eye on the pond, or get creative. One of those kids room gaurds would be awesome. I used to have a power rangers one, and I know heron's do not want to mess with the Red Ranger.
