South Central...
Well last week a couple of my buddies and I flew to Atlanta to visit one of our good friends from High School. He ended up renting a sweet cabin for us up in the Blue Mountain Range of Northern Georgia. When there was a pause during the "Beer Olypics" I managed to explore the woods around the cabin and found a few herps. I know for you guys that live in the warm areas of the US that fence lizards an skinks aren't a big deal but to a guy like me from the north, it was a nice treat to see. Once the sun came out these guys were every where!

I caught this guy while chopping wood. I'm not sure if it's a Northern or Southern Fence Lizard because both of their ranges overlap where I was.

He stuck around an posed for some pics afterwards.

Some young ones I found on our wood pile.

After the sun finally came out we found 5-lined skinks running around all over the place. I caught this male who was trapped inside our cabin's screened in porch.

He also decided to stick around for a photo shoot after the release.

Here's a few pics of a gravid female 5-lined skink.

This little juvenile 5-lined skink was a pain to get a photo of because he was very wary. Finally he came back out of hiding just long enough for me to snap a photo.

While flipping over some stones in a creek nearby I discovered lots of salamander larva like this guy. I'm not really sure what species it is.

Here's a female White-Tailed Deer that we spooked while hiking.

A cool little land snail that I found near our cabin.

We found this guy in a piece of wood that we brought into the cabin to burn. Lucky for it that it fell out before it was thrown on the fire.

nice finds

Great pictures! I can't believe the doe stood there long enough to get pics. I'm from central pa (tho more north probably) too, I know what you mean about wanting to catch those guys up here. I go out and usually find frogs/toads/salamanders, but those lizards look like a lot more fun to try and catch. That looks like a sweet trip.
