I don't really go herping, to be honest I try to buy everything captive bred and the stuff that won't breed in captivity isn't native to California.

i never keep anything when i go herping. i usually dont even try to catch it, just seeing it and takin a pic is good for me

Normally what I do, but then again when i find that "Must Have" i just gotta have it(happend like once in my life)

Herping to me is heading out with the intent of collection.

I go on hikes regularly and see all kinds of stuff.

Some one who says just because of rattlers obviously has never turned a rock over to find a den with a good 5 footer ready to strike

Getting a nip isn't worth it at all, and yes large rattle snakes are very very intimidating in the wild.
