Boots and jeans if you're in venomous country is always a good move. Old fishing pole makes a good noosing pole. Night herping with a good light is fun also, mainly frogging. I like herping, I managed to bag most of the Connecticut herp species at one time or another when I was up north but I haven't really found any good spots down here yet. Of course I see anoles every day and the novelty hasn't worn off of that yet...lizards running around wild, too cool :)

I presently live in CT...and i just spent my spring break trying to catch anoles, errr i mean enjoying disney world with my girlfriend.

Ha...its so amazing to be in a place like that crawling with herps coming from a northernish state where it requires some hunting.

That had to have been pretty awesome.

Well I was excited to see my first herp of the year. I was at my parents house doing a big water change on my koi pond (I'm building a pond for them at my house this year). Along side the one pond there is a stone wall with an outlet. Curled up right in front of it was a colorful Common Garter Snake sunning it's self. I wish I had my camera because I was able to get really close to it. And it was only 48 degrees out.

Saw my first the other day, but he/she was pulled from my friends basement and was put out side in some cooold weather. I went and took a look and he wanted to keep her till it warmed up. So he is keeping her till it warms up...

noticing the t shirt in this pic,i went and watched a iron maiden cover band the other night. They were as tight as can be and the singer realy sounded like bruce. One of my fav bands, sorry.Anyways,we got lots of outskirt desert around here.On my rides or hikes i see millions of lizards, much too fast to catch but i havnt yet seen any snakes.Im guessing sun up is a good time because they are warming from the night.Last year i saw a king crossing the bike path,i helped it get across so nobody would kill it.So far now all i see is lots of little mammals and birds. The snakes should be comming out now right?

hey,so im in cali, what time of day should i go out to these mountains to find some good stuff?early sun up or is night fall better? We got west nile virus misquitos out here so id rather not do the night, lol.Mountain lions too, lol.I may have just answered my own q huh?Well any tips could help.Mid day nothing but the same lizards are all over.Looking for snakes dangit.
