Hey guys, back again with a few more questions for you all.

I have my 55 set up and cycled for about 3 months now with about 6 African Cichlids in it. I have about 3 left and have set up a temp divider as my Piranhas are coming on on Monday. I decided on 3 at Quarter size to grow out in a 55 which I will eventually upgrade. Along with my P's I'm also picking up an AC110 to go along with my Whisper 60. I have put up a temp divider for 1/3 of the tank until I am able to get my African's out either into a new home or set up in a smaller tank.

Space is currently tight, but I will have space for an eventual 110g in about 6 months. Let me know any thoughts or criticisms, fake plants are also being purchased to put on the P's side.

I can definitely do that, I am actually thinking about throwing together my 20g my Africans are not that big so I could house 3 in a 20g for a bit, I have an extra HOB too that still is seeded. So that's an option as well.

Where do I begin!! First off, if you are gonna use the tank divider, bigger portion, 2/3, goes to the piranhas.. The africans will be okay in 1/3 or the other tank your setting up.. If you dont want them and cant provide them a good home, just return them for store credit at a LFS. Adding the other filter is GREAT, good idea, as they grow might think about getting a canister as well.. For you 110g, 1-2 canisters is essential along with your HOB filters. Cant wait to see your 110g with your larger red bellies.. If you like your tank, keep it the way it is.. Personally, I like more natural looks, so I use sand, real or fake plants, and alot of bogwood.. If you have the money and want a change for the Piranhas, pick up some more natural looking decor.. They love natural looks and hiding spots. They will grow fast, like 1'' a month until they reach about 6'' so you will be fine until you get your 110g, thought in about 2-3 months, they should have the 55g all to themselves... I could go on forever, but I hope this helps..

Thanks a lot Mal that definitely helps, I have posted a few times before deciding to get my P's all the help has been great. I have a place to properly house them and if all goes well someone is swinging by to pick up my blue hap leaving me with 2 yellow labs which will be fine in a 20 which I actually just set up for them.

I am definitely going to give the 3 guys the 55 to themselves and have a rena canister sitting around that I'll probably put back together. The ultimate goal is to have 3 RBP's in the 55 until they are each about 6-7" then I'm gonna splurge on a 110. Thanks for the help, I'll definitely be around a lot of great people and info on these boards.

My pleasure, if you have any questions about piranhas just PM me, I have been keeping them for many years. When you get your piranhas, I'd love to see photos!

For sure, the LFS is special ordering them for me. I'll have them either tomorrow or monday and will be sure to take some pics. I also do plan on adding more wood and getting plants.

Sweet! You keeping that substrate though? Piranhas look better with natural substrate, gravel or sand... How much is he charging you?

10 a piece for 2 inchers, which is quite a steal considering they aren't exactly legal in Mass :O. He keeps bigger ones in his shop and I've known him personally for a while.

Yeah, I was thinking about changing it, what I have no is a mix of black gravel and natural gravel, I'll eventually change it out. Any idea about Silica sand or play sand from Home Depot?

Hmm, maybe for you thats cheap, but normally the should be like 3 for 10 or something, but they are piranhas and illegal there, so do what you gotta do... I dont know about that sand, I wouldn't try, but Im kinda a perfectioness when it comes to natural looking tanks with good sand..
