It's because I primed the new filter with tank water :O I forgot to add more in compensation, so it's down like 2gal

Yeah definitely meant TV... silly me. I will be sure to update with photos as soon as I can. Mal how long do you think a 55 will last 3 of them? 6 months to a year? I definitely want to get them out before they are 7-8" and the width is detrimental to their health.
Some inexperienced fish hobbyiest keep piranhas for life in a 55g. 
So, do be to worried, but to do things right, remove them from the 55 around 6''... They grow extremely quick, about 1'' a month, give or take for the piranha who eats majority of the food. Meaning in about 6 months they will be around 6''... So I would say between 6-9 months, then move them to a larger tank.. You can hop right to a big tank for life and add more, or keep those 3, and put them in like a 90g...

Yeah, being in college and all is kinda rough on my love of fish... it's nice however to have parents paying for my schooling and paying for an apartment... which I can have fish in. Which mean the money I make goes to fish before food... which is how it should be. A few month down the road after getting my 110 I'm thinking about setting up the 55 for some shell dwellers.
