hey guys! new member, new tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
yea im pretty much getting high nitrites, only up to 1ppm ammonia the nitrites got up to 2 today and nitrate was at 20ppm so i did a 10 gal wc

as for the filtration, the emperor probably wont be good enough forever so im gonna eventually get some kind of canister filter and add that on too, ill probably end up getting rid of a few of these guys as they get bigger and then get the 125 whenever a good deal comes by:headbang2 i will be building my own sump/wet/dry system for the 125 so i can keep the filters on this tank for my other p (small rhom probably)

You seem like you know what your talking about so I'm sure you're staying on top of water changes and whatnot, but just for the record in case anybody else is curious. It should be:

Ammonia(um): 0
Nitrites(NO2): 0
Nitrates(NO3): <25 for most fish.

Hi M8.

There are a few things you must be aware of:

1.- Havig the plecos with the reds it's not the best option if you care for the plecos life. Sooner or later they will be caught by the reds and shreded apart, that is for sure.

2.-I hope youren't planning to keep a rhom along with the elongatus in that 55gal. It wont work mate, they would kill each other. moreover rhoms need pleny of space.

3.-Your reds arent so skittish because you have tank's lights dimmed wich is good for the pygos though not good for us to fully apreciate them.

Cheers.

hey watch this video with a pleco and piranha's!!!!!

thanks guys, i took some more pics of them there in the media area here: http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=225249:grinno:there lookin real nice!

i just fed them some krill today, they love that stuff!

also put in some zeolite and carbon mix into 1 of the media chambers of the 400 today, so hopefully that will help with any spikes im testing for everything every day

so does anyone know about how long i can keep these guys in here, even if i add another filter? maybe like a 100g canister or something?
just a rough guess? i know there gonna get big but i dont know how soon ill be able to get a new tank, ill probably buy a big canister for the new tank and use it on this tank till i get the 125

10 RBPs and a pleco would need at the very least a 200 gallon tank for life. In less than a year your RBP's will be 10"-12" inches each. The pleco probably 7-8". Your gonna need a bigger tank really soon.

Hopefully you can get the upgrade soon. Welcome to MFK

Welcome to the forum and nice setup you got there.
