alright guys so i have my 24hour membership going now and i would like to put on some pounds. When i was 15 i weighed a good 156 pounds and was 5'10.

I am now 18 6'0 and 136-139 pounds. Haha man that looks bad in writing eh? Was wondering what you guys suggest for protien shakes, certain minutes on machines, number of reps etc. Any advice would be nice.

I am guessing smaller weights with more reps is better for me because i don't have really any weight to work with if you know what i mean. Any suggestions to getting off to a good start?

Anyone?

How many of you hit the gym every morning?
I go to the gym 3 days a week. However I train at the academy at least 3 as well.

IMO to help you gain mass and weight the best thing to do would be approaching your diet differently. You need to eat more and better food I would think and more often then work out enough for your body to utilize it.Best of luck bro and send me a PM anytime for advice.

If you want to get strong and put on some weight pm me and I will give you my football workout. But if you are trying to do some easy way try something else. but I have a workout that if you are serious will get you big fast.

Eat clean,(whole foods not fast food) plenty of sleep and the main three- bench press, squat, and dead lift. Work the main muscle groups the rest will follow. Cardio is also important, the heart is the most important muscle in the body, not hours of running but a good short jog then a sprint then another short jog etc.

Yea + 1 some decent information in this thread.
But to gain weight you need to add high protien foods to your diet and work them into good weight through using heavy weights and low reps. Oatmeal, tuna, chicken breast baked only stay away from to much cardio and all Fried foods if you can and REMAIN CONSISTANT.
It will not work if you lift one week and not the next eat good one week and not the next. as far as protien shakes try mucle milk its by far one of the best tasting around the market a bit pricey compared to cheaper ones but ur paying for flavor, By the way remember to warm up so you do not hurt your self and its best to lift with a partner so u both keep each other responsible.

btw im 6'4 325 college offensive lineman so i kno a thing or two about weights ;)

stay away from lots of tuna its not good for you loaded with nasty chemicals, also stay away from shakes, a small piece of steak every night is more than enough protien than your body needs, hit the weights hard, start at 2 sets of 15 reps, then do it till you cant go longer, then lower your weights about 5 pounds 10 if you need to and again start 2 sets at 15 reps till you cant do more and keep going lower and lower till your done, get a full membership so you can work chest, triceps, and legs one day, and the next work your biceps back, shoulders etc, never work the same muscles everyday rule of thumb is letting them rest 2 days after working out, i.e changing up what you do every time your in.... stay away from machines they work but free weights are your best friend for gaining muscle mass

confusion???

if you follow this work out you will get more cut you will not put on the mass that you speak off. this is good information but doing 2 sets of 15 reps is a burn out exercise building endurance not building MASS its true that you sould not work the same mucles every day if you do YOU WILL hurt something but the reasoning behind using a shake is to repair the mucles that you break down working out so that way you can work out harded and longer.

but hell this is just my 2 cents

Thanks guys this was quite helpful. I've got to do the shakes because i need some mass. I and lean and lanky. I am quite strong for my size thats because i am lean, i want a little mass then ill work on defining my new mass. I mean yes i have a 6pack, but you can't really tell just because how skinny i am. I want a full stomach and chest that are actually cut into my body if you know what i mean. I figure putting on some weight while working out will help me a lot in doing this.

Eat pleny of proteins and starch.
Potatoes will help alot.

Practice on form and heavy weight to gain bulk.
Try to eat more then what you need
