hi guys first time aro keeper here my 7" high back RTG aro just finished feeding then i turned my back to feed my south american cichlids tank the arowana went berserk jumping splashing swimming to all regions of the tank this went on for about 2-3 minutes then he staying in the corner not moving for more than an hour now so me and my husband took a look and noticed one of his barbels pointing down is it broken?if so what should we do? it did not fall of just pointing down pls help anyone my arowana is my favorite fish among all our fishes any help is apreciated

you mean in time it will go straight on its own i dont feel ok with cutting it off my poor aro i think it would be painful for her:(:(:(

It should...don't cut it. They are very sensitive and it would definitely hurt a lot. They usually straighten back up over time.

oh thank god thats a relief some suggested it but i just could not bring myself to cutting a barbel from my precious aro thanks a lot apreciate it so much for the help travis:p:p:oops:

No problem. Aros are great healers, especially when they are young. Probably the fastest healing fish on the planet! My silver has beat himself up severely in the past...he healed incredibly fast. It seems aros panic easily when small and injure themselves. They do grow out of it eventually.

oh thank god for that it pains me to see her barbel like that me and my future huisband have five tanks 3 are cichlid tanks as my husband to be dosent like anything but american cichlids 2 are sout and one is central the other two is mine one contains a nine inch wolf fish and the other my favorite the 7" high back rtg and a marbled pim

Sounds like you have better taste in fish than he does! Lol. I have several tanks, but my favorite is definitely my tank with my 22 inch silver aro, 2 marble motoro rays and an indo datnoid!

haha we have a room full of aquariums the biggest is his 327g south american cichlid tank and second is my 250g aro tank third is 125G oscar jaguar texas convict and tilapia tank and a 75g for my hopilas malabaricus and 75g for his juvie centrals hehe but the aro outshines them all for me that is he says he loves cichlids because they all recognize him when he is sitting down preparing food for the ciclids they all gather looking down at him then when he stands back up they all go up to the top of the tank i must admit this is also amusing to see lol:p

You'll find in time you'll have a bond with your arowana that will surpass any begging cichlid! Your aro views this bond as that it owns you...sounds crazy, but you'll see!
