Hi!!!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
woot only one more sleep till new tank! haha woohoo!

i've decided on a baby jardini.. will most likely be a couple of weeks as i'll pickup tank tomorow > then source & install a decent looking background > then source white sand substrate > then cycle tank > then jardini!

should definately be worth the wait!!!

Welcome - Im from SW Sydney. I would get a Silver, you can comm with other fishes. Jardini would most likely kill all tankmates in the future. I intially got a Jardini, but traded him in for a silver b/c I sick of seeing a bare tank. But they are beautiful fish.

thanks for the hand loading the tank Tomi! Can't wait to get it up and running.
1st step is the background! will definately post pics on progress..

i agree robert - i would rather have a silver over a jar simply based on the fin diference. but price wise i think i should see if i can successfully take care of a jar first before forking the cash out on a sexy silver.. hehe

Hi all,

Just wanted to post an update.

Since last post - I've picked up the 120g tank (4x2x2), purchased and installed the universal background (universalhabitats.com.au), purchased/cleaned and installed pool filter sand as substrate and now tank is filled and is in the cycling process. Using filters that were extablished of previous setup.

Below are pics (water still a little cloudy as tank has only begun cycling on Sunday 7th Sep - 3 days so far) - when tank is fully cycled the jardini will be in! woo can't wait!

Tank setup/components:
Aqua Nova NCF1200 Cannister filter
Aqua Vital AVC1000 Cannister filter
Atman 9V UV Pond Sterilizer
Resun 250w heater
Jager 150w heater
Aqua One 400l/ph & 1200l/ph powerheads
Dual ballast T5 20K white bulb lights

Future component additions:
Fluval FX5
Jager 300w heater

well i really haven't seen a full grown lei to compare - but i think the colouration is better on the jar?

from what i've seen in real life i think the jar is a bit more brown/golden coloured and the lei is lighter/silverish coloured? i might be wrong though.

the body shape is similar right? apart from their rareness over there in the states is there any other reason you prefer lei's over jars?

i'd gladly swap you a lei for a silver arowana, over here silvers sell for $350-$450 minimum for small ones. =)

welcome to MFK.... when you get a chance look through all the pics in the arowana threads in the arow forum.. some are stunning and there are all kinds and also alot of people to get more info.. I never knew Silvers were so much money in sydney,Au... wow...

wow what a dynamite set up...just so perfect for your jardini...please post pics of him also in arrow thread....in arowana forum..."show us all your arows" ....i cannot wait to see him.... congradulations and welcome again..

Wellcome En71ce!, to MFK and Arodom!

I have relocated your thread to this Subforum, since it was an introduction..I see, however, that the conversation is flowing, so I would suggest you open a new thread to discuss Arowanas in the Aro Subforum, so that every other aro addict can follow and participate..

What say you?:)
