Hikari Carnivore Pellets vs Cichlid Sinking Gold

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Price difference is not determined by protein content but the source of protein. If the source is entirely soy protein, it’s cheap. If source includes krill and fish meal, and specially spirulina, it’s expensive but more nutritious.

I have never used Hikari carnivore pellets so I don’t know it’s ingredients. I use Hikari floating excel and sinking gold which have the right texture and buoyancy for me. There is no need to feed big pellets to big fish. I use only mini size pellets to feed both small and Oscar size fish, which have the right bitable size for both.

If you like Hikari bio-gold, you'll like the better ingredients in NLS Probiotix.

Agreed. I love it that NLS has upped their game and started making larger pellets with most of their specialty brands. My polys go nuts for the theraA as soon as im done with the regular sized pellets im ordering a tub of the wafers that are similar to their mega fish formula

I have had good luck with my smaller polys eating Northfin Krill Pro and Cichlid formulas. I haven't bought the Jumbo fish, Carnivore, or Arowana yet to try but I imagine they are good as well. I also want to try the Cobalt Ultra Predator Jumbo pellets. Just how many different foods do you get and try before you settle on something. Haha.

Why did they have to put whole corn and soybean meal in Cobalt Ultra Predator? I was close to trying it until I saw those 2 ingredients.

I hear you. Since it is far enough down the list I didn't see it as TOO big of a deal to try. NLS has whole wheat as it's 3 ingredient on Thera A. The only issue is the corn will just be ****. Literally, just become ****.

I liked northfin but after it was discovered that they werent being honest or at the least accurate about the preservatives in there products i stopped using it. My thoughts were who knows what else isnt accurate.

Biggest difference between nls megafish and thera from what i can tell at a quick glance is the protein content of megafish being higher 42% and the garlic in thereA.

I remember reading in past discussions that the ingredients in the same product can vary because of price and availability of various ingredients at the time mixing.

My oscar will eat Hikari Cichlid Gold if I am out of everything else, and he is super hungry.

Otherwise he demands live worms or chunks of frozen bloodworms. If I make him wait to feed, he will eat his dried krill or pellets, but if I give him any worms first, he won't.

I also have big snails, and feed him clutches of snail eggs, which he loves.

I used to give him crickets and mealworms, but the crickets stink and someone told me wax worms and mealworms are just junk.

lol. I feed both. :) I like the NLS Large pellets better because they are much smaller and easier for the polys to eat. The only downside is that they are HARD.

For carnivore: It noticeably starts fizzling and dissolving into the water as soon as it hits the tank. This is probably good for the smell factor. Although solid, the consistency reminds me of those marine gel foods. If it .is not eaten in one bite, it gets everywhere. My albino loves to be as messy as possible when eating them.

DMD123 DMD123 , I might have missed the post, but what did you think of the Bug Bites pellets? I looked at them at the store and noticed the first ingredients were solider fly larvae and salmon.
