See but comparing nutro and iams is like comparing tetra cichlid pellets and hikari biogold pellets.
you know what I mean? thats the worst with the best.
I don't think there is that much of a step up from the hikari gold to bio gold (which I just went to my petsmart yesterday and all their bags of it went bad in february of 2006).
BUT...I still want to try it. As you said miles you used it on your fish and noticed a significant difference. I believe you. That is enough to convince me to try it.
miles, do you think you could post a pic of your gold saum??? I just can't get enough of those guys. Wish i could get a nice male one day.
Tetra Cichlid sticks aren't all that bad.. I would say Top Fin and Wardley's is the worse.
Go to your PS and try to find the Pet Care Mgr, let him know the bags are outdated.. and politely tip-toe your way around asking if you can have the out-dated bags for free, because they will just throw them away.. Depends on how the Mgr's do things I guess..
I guarantee the bio-gold, even out-dated, is more nutritional than most other non-premium pellets.. Atleast they have an expire date, how many foods do you buy that you have no idea of their shelf life?
Like I said.. I got both these Paratilapia at 1", and now they are both around 5-6".. One has some really nice coloration and VERY numerous spots.. The other has few spots, far and few between..
Could be those Azoo blood-red parrot pellets too though.. They are a specialty food for color enhancement from Asia.. Those were the only 2 foods I fed the nicer Paratilapia..
As far as less waste, like many foods claim, I am unsure.. I didn't notice any different in physical waste. IMO, it's likely similiar to dog food.. The food is more premium with less fillers, so the fish absorb more nutrition, and process less waste.. Creating less urea, thus, less Nitrates. Would have to do a control test..
Don't have a pic of the gold saum on my laptop, might try an MFK search for 'Monster Gold Saum..'
