hikari cichlid bio gold...worth double the price?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
haha Miles I went in today and told them about the bags being outdated, and then I just asked what they did with them and they just opened them and poured them into a trashcan right in front of my face.

I realize what I should have done was buy them and then take like half the bag out, empty it into a ziplock bag and come back and say yeah its expired my fish won't eat it and then ask for a refund.

(and yes they have had these same 2 bags since I can ever remember, but they expired I think in January so its not that bad, but still since their other hikari foods have dates as far as 2010, that means it has had a 3 year shelf life just sitting there)

now I have no bio-gold untill they order more.

whats the website that has it cheaper though?

i feed a mix of hikari staple and gold to my larger cichlids, and they have outstanding colors.

Actually Petsmart has only carried Bio-Gold for like eight months. I think it has a really short shelf life since it apparently has live organisms in it.

I've been using tetracichlid sticks for a few years, seems like my fish accept it the most easily, even the barbs and danios. Do you guys think this is a quality food? They didn't seem to like Hikari staple, should I try the gold? They get lots of different foods, but get sticks for their staple diet.

I just bought the bio gold yesterday and fed it to my 2.5in male umbee last night. When i got home from work this afternoon his blue freckles popped out like crazy and fins showing some red. One feeding(about 6 mini pellets) and results like that? All i can say is, this is going to be one bio-golden umbee

All these fish were raised on Hikari bio-gold(most are over 12" and still preferr the smaller bio-gold pellets over the larger gold pellets.)

Floating cichlid gold isn't all that great IMO. I've given it to my red devil along with algea wafers and his colors suck. Recently added massivore to his diet and his colors are deepening. Biogold + is good for reduced waste. IMO the best color enhancing Hikari product is the sinking gold, I believe it's the only one with carotene which really brings out the colors.
