Hikari Massivore, your thoughts?

Fish on Fire ......

Most fish in captivity can be fed every other day, or less, once they get past the growth stage. The vast majority of hobbyists overfeed at each feeding, and feed to often, hence the reason why many experts in this field state that; "Fatty infiltration of the liver has been designated "the most common metabolic disturbance and most frequent cause of death in aquarium fish".

What do you think all of the impressive monster fish were fed before Massivore came along? Dog food? You must have missed that part in my last comment, I have underwear older than the Massivore line of food. There are tons of very impressive "monster" fish here on MFK, and elsewhere in the fish keeping universe that have never seen a Massivore pellet. Or for that matter, an NLS pellet.

BTW - I'm not getting super defensive, not at all. I just found the majority of your comments about NLS to be absolutely ridiculous.

Actually, the food I buy for my dog (growing mastiff pup) main ingredients r fish based. Ive never spared expense when buying food for my dogs in past. Taste of Wild what my dog eats now, Top ingredients r Salmon, ocean fish meal, salmon meal, and smoked salmon. Food bout same size as Massivore pellets to. Crude protein is min 25% vs Massivore 47%, but has more crude fat @15% vs 5%. B cool convenient if fish n dog ate same food, but think id still rather feed trout food to fish. But dog food for fish definitely interesting to kno, would never hav thought of that lol Something I'll sure keep in mind if I start keeping crazy amount of monsters in future

Whatever you do, don't feed dog food to your fish, or listen to idiots who do.

Fish food formulas are designed for fish, dog foods are designed for dogs, and cat foods are designed for cats.
Different balance & quantities of amino acids, fatty acids, and pretty much everything else down the line including vitamins & minerals.

I feed nls to all my fish. I have had fish that only eat massivore when purchased. Ill give massivore this; fish seem to enjoy it more. I think because its soft. That being said I still feed nls only. from shell dwellers to bass they all eat nls. Massivore is also very expensive the few times i did purchase it. Im sure its a very good food. people seem to get really good results with it.

Yeah it is super expensive compared to some of their other foods. That's the only bad thing about it!(well maybe the smell too)

Glad the OP now knows whats up in terms of massivore and NLS

Want to grow a monster fish to its fullest potential? Go with Massivore, there's really nothing out there than can beat it at getting bulk and just overall size out of a fish. Just look at the most impressive specimen on this forum, most of them were raised on a diet that had Massivore as the staple pellet. And, as stated earlier, because Massivore is so high in calories and protein per pellet, you can cut down on feedings once your fish attains its adult size and only feed it 3-4 times a week or every other day as opposed to feeding it every day and it'll still maintain its size and continue to grow even bigger.

Ah man this is funny. Your question want to grow a fish to a maximum potential should be replaced with, do you want to fill your fish's belly up with too much protein?!
Massivore is nothing compared to NLS; in fact no Hikari product is. Have you looked at the ingredients of massivore, or just look at the protein content and the results of your fish getting too big too quick? Theres a reason behind that.
I wont get too much into it, but Massivore's ingredients basically fill up the fish excessively. This may cause quick growth, but I bet the fish would've lived longer if fed NLS exclusively.
Just look at NLS (not just TheraA) ingredients. Tell me a Hikari product that has Vegetable and Fruit Extract, and comparable amount of vitamins.

Petmountain.com has 2.2lb bags of massivore for around $45 a bag with free shipping if you spend so much money (varies depending on their specials)...it would certainly help the OP with weekly purchases of the smaller bag
