Hikari sinking carnivore pellet stench?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'll throw my chips in with the 'if your tank smells you're doing it wrong' group.

Either feed less, until it doesn't smell, or get more bichirs like packer said :D

If there is an ordor from the hikari pellet then they are obviously not being eaten.. probably due to the fact that someone is overfeeding.. nothing will kill fish faster then a contaminated tank......... and definitly need to do water changes and vaccum up all uneaten food...asap

All along I've been breaking a single pellet into 2 to 3 smaller chunks to feed my baby bichirs. I drop 1 pellet worth of bits to the tank when feeding. Hence i started this thread. I read somewhere on water stench, that it might be Hydrogen sulfide (HS2).

I don't know what's exactly the reason for the stench but I guess I'll just have to do water changes and use activated carbons in the meantime.
