LOL!!! It very well well could be But i am under the opinion that hikari is a pretty good product!!!!Just sayinn...

It is. And i'm not questioning the product itself, just how much of it we feed. We feed much more than any fish would eat in the wild and perhaps this overdose of protein and food has something to do with it. And yes, I agree with G that Aquanero did raise some very good points.

That could very well be on the amount that is fed !!! I do not tho or am not inclined to believe that a fish is perfectly fine for three and a half years then pow!!!! the water softness or hardness suddenly does not meet with a fishes requirments!!!!Just sayen!!!

I believe giving too much shrimps can caused it. Shrimps is not in the fish natural diet in the wild. I tried to feed only what is available as natural diet in wild. I have had fish that died from eating shrimps for no reason.

Hulon-could it be possible the occel might have got it from the feeders? You did say you would occasionally give them feeders.

Ate feeders exclusively and to this day they have no Hith !!!

Some papers show that in lots of introduced places the principal part of the peacock bass diet is Shrimp. Probably Macrobrachium genus.

As a fishermen, when I eat peacock bass I try to discover what he is feeding on checking his stomach content, so I can find the best bait to use. And I've found shrimp for sure on its stomach.

I dont see shrimp as a major cause for HITH.
