Hitting pellets & holding them down. Then spitting.

Just be happy its not on live bro.
I got some adults kels that would NEVER touch frozen. they only ate Massivore. That crap gets so expensive. But to my surprise I got them on shrimp. Moral of the story is they'll eat what you want them to eventually. Welcome to the advanced stage of Cichla keeping, with kels being the hardest to pellet train lol.

Yeah, I guess thats true lol. Just frustrating as you know. I want to move them all over to my 180 gallon but I would like them all eating the same food first. I just want to tarnish my Orinos cause they like to steal the kels frozen minnows. Ive never had such nice fish & I just dont want the kel to die from not eating. I just cant see any living creature just not eat when everything surrounding them is eating ya know.

If you have Cichla thats pellet trained already I would keep them together. They would teach your Kel to eat pellet, It wont just sit and watch other cichla eat. Teacher fish speeds up the process

I thought the same thing lol... But ive been giving in and feeding her every 4 days.

Have you stuff pellet in the cut food? Carni Sticks works well bc its a capsule shape, circular shape pellet is alittle harder

The kels still a little small so she can only eat fatheads. I tried but they are to small to cut apart. They turn into crap and then she really wont touch them ha. Once it worked and somehow she wiggled the food stick right out of there.

Foodsticks are smaller enough to stuff in Minnows

Ill give it another shot I guess. Just shove it right down the minnows throat I take it? I cut the stomach open and put it in there. Thats probably why it fell out.
